WayForward Technologies is an American independent video game developer founded in 1990 in Valencia, California. The studio is best known for the Shantae series, beginning with the Game Boy Color title developed by Matt Bozon and released in 2002 — a game notable for its technical ambition on the GBC hardware and its extremely limited print run of approximately 20,000–25,000 copies. The original Shantae GBC cartridge is one of the most sought-after collector's items in Game Boy history.
